孩子们的感想

[编者前言] 山西农村实践夏令营在结束了为期一周的与农村学生互动之后，又踏上了中国寻根之旅夏令营，之后又有部分孩子们参加了北京武术营。所有夏令营加在一起，贯穿了从7/16到8/9共25天的中国夏令营活动。本集选编了两篇出自参营成员的小大师的感想，让我们一起看看这些孩子们是怎样看待这趟中国之行的。By Michael Quinn, 16 yrs old
As a part of tradition, this year our vacation to China included a 5 day stay at a rural home in Yuanping, China. It was meant for us, five spoiled American kids, to understand the highs and lows of China’s social structure and to truly recognize the base of one of the greatest nations on this planet. Coming to a rather foreign scenario, there were certainly quite a few predicaments. For one, the cuisine here is certainly different, with plenty of new exotic foods with different tastes that had never been accustomed to. Many of us had to be brave enough to take that first step, and many of us tried and found many new wonderful foods unlike that of anywhere else.The second part of our cultural education, was that in the service of others. A lot of our time we spent at a local school, hosting a local summer school. Countless hours we interacted with other students playing various English games. I can for certainly say that, on our part, we created lasting memories and understanding about the people of Yuanping. Playing basketball, riding some cool mopeds, sharing an ice-cold Coke on the sidewalk, a lasting collection of memories that will stick with me for countless years.Overall, our little recess this year has created a truly once in a lifetime experience. We really did understand the full structure of China’s society. From the highs and lows, the food culture and street culture, our visit to Yuanping, China, has helped us develop a deep understanding, and I truly hope, that every summer break, this tradition can be maintained.

我叫王达维，来自美国西雅图。我妈妈一直说因为我有黑头发、黑眼睛，根在中国，所以我一定要学好中文与中国历史。她积极鼓励我参加这个寻根之旅夏令营。我最开始来到这个夏令营的时候，以为只会无聊地看几座寺庙。不过，现实比我想象的好多了。我们不仅参观了寺庙、古老的城市，而且看了电影、戏剧。这些景点都非常有趣，非常好玩。它们让我明白中国有着悠久的历史和灿烂的文化，让我亲身体验到山西的历史到底有多么的精彩！我现在一回忆起这几天的经历，就会立刻想到跟朋友们在一起的欢乐日子。从此以后，我不会再以为学习中文是件无聊的事情，我会努力学好中文，学好中国历史，参加更多的夏令营寻根之旅。我也会很骄傲地把我所了解的中国介绍给我的美国朋友。
